KIWA EXHIBITIONS PURPOSE AND RULES



The Kyoto International Woodprint Association (KIWA) holds periodic exhibitions in Japan :

to introduce contemporary woodblock prints from around the world to the Japanese public;
to provide an opportunity for any printmaker, professional and amateur, to exhibit and sell his/her work in Kyoto , the cultural center of Japan , and to have their work tour the country during the following years;
to enlarge the Collection of prints and art work owned by KIWA and make them available to researchers, museums, artists and print students; and
to promote a greater awareness of the uniqueness and beauty of the woodprint.


1. Only original woodblock and woodcut prints, unframed, no larger that 100cm X 100cm, and made within the last three years, will be accepted.
2.

Mono prints, solar prints, linocuts, photographs, digital graphics or mixed media where wood comprises less than 50% are not accepted.

3. There is no entry fee.
4. Prints will be properly handled and displayed by KIWA staff or KIWA-appointed individuals only.
5. Prizes and awards are the judges' decisions and are final.
6. Visitors who wish to purchase a print will be given the artist's address. KIWA will help facilitate negotiations, but will not act as an Artist's Agent or accept any fees or commissions.
7. Prints without written prices, but without the words NOT FOR SALE circled, will be priced by the Exhibition Committee.
8. Each work must be fully documented on the Entry Form's LABELS ; works without labels attached to their backs cannot be exhibited.
9. No work will be returned; do not send more than one piece from each edition or multiple. After the exhibition, all prints become the property of the KIWA Collection.
10. DEADLINE: July 30, 2010. Prints received after July, 2010, will be held for the 7th Exhibition in 2015.
11. Send the prints with their Labels attached to the lower left corner of the back AND the completed Entry Form together to the address below.
12. The 6th KIWA Exhibition will be held in the spring of 2011 in the Kyoto City Museum
13. Every artist without exception will have at least one work in the Catalog; all the prints by the winners will be hung in the exhibition.
14. Prizewinners will be notified immediately after the judging by e-mail where possible. Prizes will be mailed after the exhibition.
