The Kyoto International Woodprint Association was formed in 1997 by Mr Richard Keith Steiner and the students of his Steiner Print Workshop in Kyoto. Meetings of the Executive Board are held monthly. In the spring and fall, the Distinguished Speakers series are conducted. Annual Members' Meetings are usually in December. A 14 page newsletter, KIWANews, is published, at present once a year, detailing the past year's activities, plans for the future and also containing articles on print history, personal opinion essays and general art news.
Membership is open to anyone, whether a printmaker or not, who is interested in KIWA's purpose to hold competitions and to build up a collection of contemporary woodblock prints. Membership is annual and includes an original print by Mr Steiner, invitations to KIWA events and a KIWANews subscription. Payment is easiest by International Postal Money Order made out to Richard Steiner.
